How It Works
HOWL is simple to use
HOWL is FREE. No charge to download. No subscription. Nothing. Zero. Zilch.
Both you and any emergency contacts will each need to have the HOWL app, otherwise you won't be monitored.
Periodic Monitoring
During an active walk HOWL will check on your location and status approximately every 10 to 20 seconds and will relay it to your chosen emergency contact. Data coverage is needed, but if you lose signal HOWL will continue to check back in periodically.
Please be aware that when you have network coverage and you activate a HOWL for help it may take up to 20 seconds for your emergency contact to be notified. If you are testing at home, we know this feels like forever, but in a real situation when you're away from home and you're summoning help, it is unlikely to make any real difference. HOWL is more efficient at notifying your emergency contact that you need help at a precise location, than if you were to call that person to summon help.
